Comparison of doubles in queries

Comparison of doubles in queries

Problem description

The comparison of two doubles or floats inside queries is unreliable. For example, if a query contains the expression "double.col > 1.23" then a value may be returned which is equal to, or even slightly less than, 1.23. If an expression "double.col = 1.23" is in a query, and the database contains the value 1.23 it may, or may not be returned. This can lead to programs taking wrong decisions.

Token pasting (preprocessor)
By patvdv at 26 Feb 2008 - 21:56

Token pasting (preprocessor)

In the macro, you can enter a part of a variable as a macro argument. The symbol '##' is used to distinguish macro arguments and the rest of the macro. This is omitted in the macro call. You can paste more macro arguments together as one identifier. This principle is called token pasting. It is used to reuse parts of the source code, where using functions is impossible or difficult.

Transfer of control

The Baan 3GL programming language supports several statements that change the flow of control in a program. These enable control to be transferred either conditionally or unconditionally to a specified point in the program.

Debugger commands
By patvdv at 26 Feb 2008 - 21:56

Debugger commands

Debugger commands consist of from one to three words; the words can be separated from each other by one or more spaces. The assignment command is an exception. Here the variable and the value to be assigned are separated by a ':=' sign. Most commands require a line number and/or a source name. If no source name is specified, the default is the current source.

Variables

Variables

The name of a variable is used to indicate the memory location where data (characters, numbers, and so on) is stored. The name of the variable refers to the associated data.
