Merino Services successfully migrates Veethree Electronics and Marine LLC from ManMan to Infor ERP LN

Merino Services successfully migrates Veethree Electronics and Marine LLC from ManMan to Infor ERP LN

February 15, 2013, Windefermere FL, USA.: Merino Services a Business Consulting and IT Services organization today announced successful migration of Veethree Electronics and Marine LLC, from old Infor ManMan system to  Infor ERP LN.

Veethree was using the ManMan ERP system as their Enterprise Application for more than 15 years. Because of horizontal & vertical growth of the organization, the scalability of the application was at challenge. Apart from that there was a need to move to a modern application which can be a backbone to the organizations growth in coming years.

Veethree management considered various options. Infor ERP LN which is a logical roadmap suggested by Infor to all Infor ManMan customer came up as a favorite choice. Infor ERP LN was considered because of its strengths in manufacturing as well as lower TCO because of Infor’s support in getting ManMan licenses upgraded to Infor ERP LN.

Merino Services executed the project using On Site- Off site – off shore methodology to migrate from ManMan and implement Infor ERP LN. Merino Services unique approach helped Veethree reduce implementation costs substantially. Merino Services also used its own proprietary migration tool to migrate data from any legacy applications to Infor ERP LN.

Infor Broadens Channel Partner Sales Opportunity; Will Go Head-to-Head Against Own VARs
By Jonathan Gross at 28 Aug 2012 - 20:38

Historically, Infor operated a highly restrictive sales channel, limiting its value-added resellers (a.k.a. VARs and channel partners) to sell into companies that generate revenues of no more than $100 million per year. With its August 8th announcement (covered here: Infor Eases Sales Restrictions for Channel Partners), Infor now allows its channel to sell to companies that generate revenues of up to $500 million per year.

The old restrictions made it difficult - in some cases near impossible - for channel partners to generate revenues from the sale of software licenses. Many of Infor's systems are geared to companies that generate revenues far in excess of $100 million annually. For example, Infor10 ERP Enterprise (formerly ERP LN and Baan) is a feature rich, complex system designed for larger mid-sized and large enterprise-sized manufacturers of complex, engineer-to-order (ETO) products. The $100 million cap effectively made the "reseller" title more theoretical than practical for those firms that only resold Infor10 ERP Enterprise (ERP LN).

Hello everyone,

ERP Planning Tip #5: The Importance of Accurate Inventory Data
By Jonathan Gross at 29 Aug 2011 - 21:23

In our previous ERP planning tip, we discussed routings, the final data set-up requirement for making an item. In this tip, I dig deep into another critical data requirement – the need to maintain timely and accurate inventory counts and movements.

If inventory counts and movements aren’t accurately reflected in the planning engine, MRP will issue inaccurate recommendations. This might mean that replenishment order recommendations are issued to soon – which could lead to unnecessary increases in operating costs and constraints to cash flow. It might also mean that replenishment order recommendations are issued too late – which could create customer churn caused by avoidable order delays. Finally, it might mean that replenishment order recommendations are made for the wrong items or quantities – which could result in unnecessary orders of depreciating inventory.

The key, therefore, is to ensure that the planning engine issues planning recommendations for the correct items and quantities at the appropriate times. To issue just-in-time, time phased replenishment orders, the planning engine requires five basic data elements:

Infor ERP LN and Baan Planning Tip #2: Get Quantity and Lead Time Right

In our previous ERP planning tip, we discussed the importance of feeding an MRP system - or a planning engine - accurate and timely data. In this tip, we start to dig a bit deeper into the types of data that a planning engine needs to make meaningful recommendations.

Though obvious to many, it’s important to mention that a planning engine generates supply recommendations relating to both existing orders and new orders.

ERP Buyer's Corner: Thinking of Upgrading to ERP LN or Expanding the Search? Some Food for Thought
By Jonathan Gross at 31 May 2011 - 14:16

Many companies running Infor Baan ERP software are reaching a crucial juncture. Do they upgrade to Infor's ERP LN software, stick with their current software or expand the search to include other vendors.

When to Consider Expanding the Search Beyond ERP LN

In general, companies running Baan IV ERP software should consider expanding their search to include vendors in addition to Infor. Why? Because LN represents wholesale changes in technology, user interface and functionality. Implementation and training will probably be more akin to a new implementation than a version upgrade.

Companies in this position are - for all intents and purposes - evaluating a different product in ERP LN. Given the differences, there is no certainty that LN will be the right fit. And, even if LN is good enough, another system might prove to be an even better fit.

Infor LN and Baan Planning Tip #1: Feed the Planning Engine Accurate and Timely Data
By Jonathan Gross at 27 May 2011 - 17:15

The credit crunch and recovery have exposed manufacturers to volatile demand. The earthquake in Japan has exposed manufacturers to volatile supply. The key to effective management of supply and demand lies in a manufacturer's planning activities.

A planning engine is a lot like a high-performance athlete. It can only perform if it’s well-trained, in shape and well-prepared. Like an athlete, if it’s only fed a steady diet of junk food, it’s simply not going to perform optimally.
