ERP Business Analyst / Systems Expert

Kalmar Solutions LLC. the leading global supplier of container & load handling equipment and services, is seeking an ERP Business Analyst / Systems Expert.   

Based in the Ottawa, Kansas USA region, this position is the natural linkage between the daily local business together with system development and the Global footprint and business process development. The active knowledge transfer between our different units is done via a constant exchange and sharing of acquired experience and different business requirements.


Via an active participation in Global ERP LN initiatives the ERP Business Analyst / Systems Expert brings back global knowledge to the local environment and vice versa. This requires an understanding from local management that these initiatives are for the good of all making prioritization a double task. The Global management also needs to plan these initiatives together with local management to minimize any negative impact on local business a global participation in projects/programs/development tasks could have.


Local role responsibilities

The ERP Business Analyst / Systems Expert is responsible for the daily local work with our MAU business systems within the global and/or local ERP landscape. Via the acquired skill set and a strong Key User organization the ERP Business Analyst / Systems Expert makes sure there is high user knowledge, high system accessibility and a good usability via thought through processes that support the business.


In order to meet business requirements the ERP Business Analyst / Systems Expert needs to:

Ø  Constantly build, train and assure that the local Key User organization in the MAU has a high knowledge in ERP-system and its interfaced IT-landscape, in order to make sure we have an adequate first-line-support, thus minimizing our vulnerability.

Ø  Plan, Maintain and Enhance daily usage of our ERP landscape across all functional areas; from Logistics to Finance, from Scanner to Reporting.

Ø  Coordinate local reporting requirements in line with ERP-system possibilities and according to needed/required KPI’s.

Ø  Actively make sure issues in and around the ERP landscape is managed via our ticketing system and thus making sure that these issues are resolved in a timely manner.

Ø  Lead changes and drive internal and external resources to deliver results in a cost effective manner.


Global role responsibilities

The ERP Business Analyst / Systems Expert has a joint responsibility to deploy, implement and manage the Global footprint for all MAU’s.


In order to carry out the global responsibility, the ERP Business Analyst / Systems Expert needs to:

Ø  Continuously participate in team meetings to ensure understanding of the global footprint.

Ø  Participate in global project teams to increase knowledge transfer.

Ø  Participate in Global Business Report coordination meetings and corporate initiatives relevant to our ERP’s.

Ø  Build and maintain relationships with System vendors that support our business locally and globally.

Ø  When/if need occurs to develop, train or exchange knowledge and to enhance the Global footprint to other MAU’s both willing and allowed to by local managers to participate in those projects or exchange programs.


General responsibilities and capacities

In the role as ERP Business Analyst / Systems Expert it is crucial to participate in global projects like implementations and roll outs but also as participating experts in development tasks and general business and process improvements.


The ERP Business Analyst / Systems Expert should:

Ø  Have a broad understanding of/and supporting the Global IT architecture as defined by Cargotec.

Ø  Conduct an advisory role to both local and global management.

Ø  Recommend and deploy technology solutions with the consideration of their cost effectiveness and business relevance.

Ø  Be the ambassador for increased usage of the ERP-system, locally and globally, and always try to find solutions within current environment.

Ø  Together with the Global ERP LN team make sure we prioritize resources in a correct way, by that not jeopardizing the daily business and current on-going projects.

Ø  Participate and actively contribute in the Business Demand meetings and be proactive in sharing business needs with other units.

Ø  Make sure demands are aligned, understood and agreed along all our MAU’s, before implementing different solutions and customizations in the ERP landscape.


Job Requirements:



Ø  Minimum 4 years experience with ERP, such as SAP comparable.  Baan LN6 ERP knowledge is highly desirable.

Ø  Business Administration, System Administration or equivalent education in finance and/or logistics



Ø  Hands on experience in Manufacturing Logistics/ Warehouse Management/Sales are of high value.

Ø  Knowledge of EDI/ODM/SOA(Open Architecture)

Ø  Analysis and documentation skills.

Ø  Need to understand business needs and able convert them into system solutions in written specifications

Ø  High ability to build and cooperate in a Global team environment

Ø  Language skills: English

Ø  Managerial skills in leading Process work, and getting personnel to follow target/goals.
